MEGAN DAWN

“I am inspired to teach dance to children and their families because I believe dance to be a healing movement phenomenon. Dance has the power to move people out of their "funk", renew their energy and process their emotions in a way that no other activity can. Time and time again I see students and parents transformed after just 30 mins of dance, leaving with smiles on their faces and more kindness in their hearts.”

Megan comes to Ready Set GROW with 18 years of dance experience. She began her dance training at age 9 at Motions School of Dance in Gooding, Idaho under the tutelage of Cindy Jones. Megan moved to Portland in 2009 to study Fine Art with a Foundation Scholarship at Pacific Northwest College of Art and continued her dance training at Portland Community College. In 2017 Megan toured a Modern dance work by Jamuna Chiarini to Berkeley, CA to perform in Shawl-Anderson's Dance Up Close/East Bay festival.

For the past two years, Megan has performed with Rose City Ballet School in their advanced American Ballet Theatre curriculum. Megan performed "Soul Stories", a evening length dance work with Andrea Parson in Coho Summerfest 2018 at the Coho Productions Theatre in NW Portland. She performed at Polaris Dance Theatre's Galaxy Dance Festival in 2018 and in Fertile Ground's 'Groovin Greenhouse in 2019. Megan is freelance dancer and choreographer and concurrently teaches ballet, hip hop and Pilates at Laurelhurst Dance Studio, Center for Movement Arts and the International Leadership Academy.

Megan looks forward to bringing her enthusiasm and knowledge of dance to Ready Set GROW.
