POSTPARTUM CLASSES
POSTPARTUM YOGA (BABY & ME) - This class provides a comfortable, supportive environment for new parents and their babes to connect while caregivers return to their yoga practice. Classes focus on rebuilding strength, relieving stress and tension (nursing shoulders, anyone?), and rehabilitating the body after pregnancy and birth. This class is appropriate for non-mobile babies (approximately 6 weeks old to crawling).
You and your baby will interact while you practice yoga, sing songs, and connect with other families in a similar season of life. We’ll explore movement for both you and baby and you’ll even learn some infant massage techniques. Feedings, diaper changes, tears, naps, etc. are all welcomed and embraced in this class.
MOVERS + MULTITASKERS YOGA - Mobile babies and kids welcome! Have you tried to practice yoga at home only to become your toddler’s personal jungle gym? Has your child outgrown the “baby and me” yoga classes? Are you having trouble finding the time or motivation to practice? If any of this sounds familiar, this class is for you! You’ll be guided through a juicy, all levels Vinyasa class while your kiddo(s) play and let loose with other little ones.
It’s a little Zen and a little “Lord of the Flies.” You may not leave class blissed out, but you and your Little One will benefit from much-needed socialization (and a short reprieve for you!). Kiddos are welcome to flow with their caregiver, play, or do a little of both! Final relaxation includes a brief storytime for the kiddos while parents get a moment of (semi) peace.
BABYWEARING DANCE - Prenatal and Postpartum! - Come move and groove with this joyful, inclusive, low-impact dance class for parents and caregivers with babies in utero or earthside (geared towards babies 8 weeks to 2 years). It doesn’t matter how you dance, just how you feel while you’re dancing! Dancing with your baby fosters love and connectedness and can improve mental health and overall well-being. Come dance your heart away while connecting with other caregivers in a similar season of life. You can’t help but smile in this class! No prior dance experience needed.
*Please wear a symmetrical carrier and clothing you can move in. Sneakers or bare feet recommended. If you are new to baby-wearing or using a new carrier, please shoot us an email prior to class and we'll connect you with baby-wearing specialists to ensure a proper fit for you and your little one.
BABYWEARING BALLET - A fun, all-level ballet class for postpartum parents while wearing their little ones. We will use the fundamentals of ballet to re-integrate the core while working on strength and flexibility, all in a welcoming and supportive space. This class is especially helpful for anyone looking to improve their posture, core stability, and strength for babywearing, caregiving, and beyond! This class is suitable for all fitness levels; no prior ballet experience necessary!
*Please wear a symmetrical carrier (i.e., not a ring sling) and clothing you can move in. No special footwear required - socks or bare feet recommended.
CORE BABY BOUNCE - In this unique and playful class, parents will spend half of their time on the mat with baby nearby and half their time on a physio-ball* while baby-wearing, bouncing their way to a content baby and a stronger core! We will practice exercises that work the deep core, release tension in those tight hip flexors, and learn to stabilize your trunk and hips. These powerful exercises help to improve posture, build overall strength, help correct diastasis recti, and strengthen the pelvic floor so you can feel stronger (and pain-free!) while lifting, carrying, and chasing your little loves.
Parents are welcome to take this class with or without baby. If taking the class with baby, please wear a symmetrical carrier (i.e., not a ring sling) and clothing you can move in. Sneakers or bare feet recommended.
Note: If you are new to baby-wearing or using a new-to-you carrier, shoot us an email prior to class and we'll connect you with a baby-wearing specialist to ensure a proper fit.
CORE REBUILD I (Babies welcome!) - This Pilates-based class will help improve your posture, correct diastasis recti, and restore overall strength so you can safely and effectively “do all the things” (and stop peeing when you sneeze). You’ll learn how to access and engage your deepest core muscles, as well as strengthen the pelvic floor and build functional strength.
To allow for individualized instruction, this class is limited to 4 students. It’s designed as a series, however, drop-in registrations are permitted, as space allows.
CORE REBUILD II - This Pilates-based class builds upon the foundation built in Core Rebuild. We’ll continue strengthening and toning the body, with a focus on the core, pelvis, lower back, and other areas commonly impacted by pregnancy and postpartum. It is highly recommended that you feel confident in the Core Rebuild I class prior to taking Core Rebuild II. Alternatively, you may schedule a minimum of three, 30 minute private sessions with Daniele to prepare for this class.
BRAND NEW BABY - MOVEMENT FOR POSTPARTUM HEALING (ONLINE ONLY) - Looking for a very gentle class you can do from the comfort of your bed? We’ve got you covered! We will focus on stretching and strengthening movements in the areas that are not actively healing but impacted by pregnancy, birth, and postpartum caregiving (think outer extremities, neck and shoulders, feet, ankles, and wrists). We’ll focus on breathwork, gentle engagement, and “micro movements” in the areas that are healing to help increase blood flow, slowly regain mobility, and facilitate healing. Gift yourself this time to nourish your body, process your birth, and connect with others who have recently given birth.
Class lasts 45-60 minutes, depending on the needs of the group.
NEW PARENT SHARING CIRCLE - Parenthood is full of highs and lows and is equal parts magical and exhausting. Come ask questions, meet other parents, and share your weekly challenges and triumphs. Led by RSG owner and mother of three, Daniele Strawmyre, you’ll receive “tried and true” wisdom and camaraderie from fellow parents. Babies-in-arms are welcome!
Location will vary depending on the weather and the interests of the group - perhaps coffee at a neighborhood café, a walk in the park, or a visit to a serene garden. We'll send you our meeting location (always a block or less from RSG studio) when you register.
As part of our commitment to making perinatal support accessible to all, this support group is free. Donations are graciously accepted to compensate the facilitator, with excess donations going to the Ready Set Grow scholarship fund to help provide yoga to ALL families regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, ability, finances, or gender identity. If you do not wish to make a donation, simply sign up "unpaid" for the group.
To keep the group intimate, space is limited so be sure to reserve your spot in advance!
