Our origin story

Meeting You Where You Are

My name is Daniele Strawmyre and I am the owner of Ready Set GROW. I am the mother of three wonderful kids, one who is beautifully neurodivergent, one who is full of fire and so, so, much sass, and a toddler who arrived mid-pandemic, a delightful surprise, a light in the darkness that was the first year of Covid-19, our rainbow baby. I have been building Ready Set GROW since 2015 – first as an idea, then as a traveling program, and then in 2019 as a beautiful art and movement studio in NE Portland. I moved to the Pacific Northwest with my partner and son in the Fall of 2015, shortly after losing my mother to cancer, and pregnant with our second child. Navigating parenthood with a special needs child, while processing grief and pregnancy, in a new city, and all of the challenges that come with those things, inspired me to bring my years of training, education and talent to creating Ready Set Grow. I thought about what I wished existed as far as support and healing modalities for parents, their children, and their families, and couldn’t find it anywhere. So I created it!

I do this for them. I do this for me...and I do it for all of you.

A safe, inclusive and supportive environment for pregnant people, postpartum people, parents, and kids to gain strength, flexibility, and control of their physical health

Ready Set GROW offers Yoga, Dance, Pilates-based core classes, and educational workshops designed specifically for pregnancy, postpartum (and beyond), parents and kids (sometimes together!), childbirth & parent education, specialized, somatically-informed workshops, and more.

We serve ALL families regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, ability, or gender identity. We offer a space free of judgement, a safe place to find support when you are struggling, and celebration when things are going well.

In addition to group classes and workshops at our studio location in NE Portland, we also specialize in private lessons for late pregnancy/early postpartum people, children needing more attention and guidance, people with chronic injuries, those who’ve experienced pregnancy or infant loss, or beginners and "yoga tentative" students. Private lessons are available in-home, in studio, and via Zoom.

Who are all of the people at Ready Set GROW?

We are a collective of parents, birth and postpartum doulas, yoga and movement educators, occupational therapists, lactation consultants, artists, parent and childbirth educators, caregivers, and bodyworkers, all with extensive experience and a passion for helping and supporting families. We offer yoga, dance and movement classes for families at all stages - prenatal, postpartum, and beyond. We offer a broad range of educational workshops including: breastfeeding, baby sign language, childbirth, newborn care, social/emotional learning, sensory regulation and more. We have classes for children to explore their creativity, develop motor skills and socialization, including those with neurological differences.

The teachers of Ready Set Grow help people develop "body intelligence." Through yoga, foundational Pilates, and dance fundamentals, classes incorporate exercises to help people feel strong, centered, and healthy in their bodies and minds. In addition to providing nuanced and thoughtful workouts, students learn tools they can utilize in their everyday lives: Using fun imagery and tricks that stick in your head to help you go about your day (riding a bike, lifting your children, carrying groceries, etc) with more awareness, and helping you break harmful habitual movement patterns, improve posture, heal, and avoid injury. Meet our teachers and collaborators.

Community is Our Foundation

Another (fun!) part of Ready Set GROW is community building. It takes a village to raise a child and feel supported in the rewarding but difficult job of parenting. Not only do our classes provide knowledge and guidance in healing and healthy physical practices, but through group classes, we offer a meeting place to find your people.

Who Am I?

Professionally, I am a choreographer, dancer, and movement educator of over 25 years, with a focus on prenatal and postpartum health for the last 9 years. I am originally from Philadelphia, where I was the director of ready Set GO, performing locally and internationally, and teaching various forms of fitness and Somatics. I earned a degree in Dance and Choreography from the University of the Arts, have studied with master teachers of Anatomy/Kinesiology and movement practices in various forms from all over the world, and completed a 350-hour, intensive yoga teacher training during my first pregnancy. I also completed additional advanced pre and postnatal yoga and movement teacher training through Pranakriya Yoga School of Healing Arts, and Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator and Breastfeeding educator training through Birth Arts International.

Teaching has always been a large part of my life and career, with students that ranged in age from toddlers to older adults, beginners to advanced, and professional dancers. I love inspiring and guiding my students to find ways to access their joy through a more self-aware relationship with their bodies and a more fine-tuned mind-body connection.
