Emily Dalsfoist

she/her

“What our bodies do for us and are capable of is incredible! I bring a deep desire to center the birthing person's self care and embodiment needs during the perinatal process. Pregnancy and Parenting can be such a brave and vulnerable experience, and my yoga practice is a big part of what has allowed me to be able to actually feel into what it is I need in the moment and to step into the bravery required to do necessary yet “hard” things (ex: ask for help, give birth, parent etc).”

Emily Dalsfoist is a white bodied cis-woman, yoga instructor, mother, musician, earth lover, animal, wife, sister, daughter, witch. Her core values are bravery/courage, intimacy/connection and freedom/adventure. Emily has been practicing, studying, learning, re(un)learning and guiding Yoga classes for over a decade and is incredibly grateful to have access to this sacred and ancient practice from South Asia. Emily is passionate about the human body (all layers) and weaving social justice and advocacy for the thriving of all beings through her classes and way of living. She believes it is a radical act to be embodied and that living skillfully in this world requires an embodiment practice that mantles tenderness and bravery.

Emily’s classes are trauma informed (feels silly to say this as Yoga is inherently a trauma informed practice), deeply inspired by the 5 elements (earth, water, fire, air and ether) and involve a blend of a wide variety of modalities she has studied and found potent including movement, meditation and breath practice. Her hope is to move at a pace that feels palpable for your nervous system and to provide a space that invites curiosity, expansion, affirmation, rest, play, nourishment and awareness; a space that reflects the innate wisdom within your body. Emily feels it is an honor to walk alongside you as support, and encouragement through darkness and the light and all the sacred gray inbetweens of being in a human body, as parent and/or caregiver in this world, at this time. A few of her greatest inspirations, teachers and/or mentors are: Angelina Vasile, Michelle Cassandra Johnson, Carol Gray, Sarah Entrup, Natasha Kassam-Paris, Tristan Katz, Christopher Hirsh, Iyengar, Shiva, Earth, Rebecca Singer, the Runes, Gregory Jamiel, Britt B. Steele, Anodea Judith, Kimberly Ann Johnson and of course, her child, Niandra Moon.

When not practicing or teaching Yoga, you can find Emily playing music and singing with others; in ceremony; going for walks to the park or coffee shop with her kiddo, Niandra, husband and sweet canine companion, Nikyah; spending time with the more than human world (usually in the forest); dancing, reading, learning, writing, creating, and working to complete her CranioSacral Therapy certification.
