SARA NIELSON
she/her
“I believe feeling healthy, strong, and mobile in our bodies is essential to finding deep joy in our lives. Becoming a mother has deepened my passion for helping folx feel supported and strong in their parenting journey.”
Sara is an enthusiastic teacher with a passion for anatomy and body literacy. She created her BootyCore class after having her second baby and healing from a birth injury. She found it was hard to find a fun class that was also safe and manageable to do postpartum. "I wanted to move some energy, but also build strength in a way I wasn't in pain after class". It was hard to find fitness instructors who were knowledgeable and able to teach to my postpartum body.
She is a licensed massage therapist, postpartum doula, mindful strength training coach and Yoga teacher of 15 years.
A west coast native who lived half her life in NYC, Sara is a true mover and groover. From competitive ski racing, professional dancing to teaching yoga, she grew up dedicated to movement. With all that movement Sara was also getting injured and began to study the body in order to heal. Over the years she has studied with world renowned yoga teachers, movement specialists, physical therapists, and specialized trainers all in service of better understanding functional movement as a pathway to health. That life theme has continued into motherhood. Becoming a mother 6 years ago rocked her world both mentally and physically. She experienced a severe birth injury from her first pregnancy that lead to pelvic floor dysfunction and several other issues. Through her own healing journey, she has studied and become extremely knowledgeable with postpartum recovery. " It sucks to have chronic back pain and pee when you sneeze! It's not something we should just accept. Let's talk about it so we can find a way to feel better."
She currently offers Mama wellness sessions combining therapeutic massage and custom movement practices for moms.
